Here's an event that didn't make the list, but should have:

BLACK SATURDAY

A new group art show.

Saturday, April 7, 2012
6:00 PM - Midnight

RENEGADE ART GALLERY
1345 N Palm Canyon Dr,
Palm Springs, CA

Featuring:

Darren Pearson, Nathan Geare, Kurtis Rykovich, Cyrstofer, Luke Schutte, Milenna C. Saraiva, Khalid Hussein, Dan Irvine, Angelina Christina, Daniel George, Jorge Sicre, Brendon O'Neal, Khaled Habash, Daniele Matalon, Matt Juliano

As the winter season comes to a close, The Renegade Gallery brings out the heavy artillery. With new work from the usual suspects plus several new artists like Sicre, Chris James, Kurtis Rykovich, Noah Emhurt and Peter Mikulak, this is sure to be an event you won't want to miss.

As a pristine oasis retreat from the city, Palm Springs has been called LA's less pretentious equivalent of the Hamptons. In this home away from home, Renegade Art Gallery embodies the vitality and freshness that has come to typify the Los Angeles art scene, reflecting the cutting edge of emerging and mid-career artists from the desert and LA, as well as places such as Portland, Alaska and Colorado. If you have been following the Pacific Standard Time series of exhibitions, you are sure to enjoy the next generation of artists, raised and influenced by the artists of California’s Modernist movement.

As you may already know, our opening night is presented in a silent auction format where potential buyers can bid on individual pieces of artwork and can walk away with some great work at an amazing deal. Also, there will be a “buy it now” price, which will allow someone who falls in love with a piece to purchase it immediately without having to wait for the auction to end. Those with the highest bid will be notified on Sunday and can drop by to collect their new purchase.

And while you’re in the desert, be sure to also check out Palm Springs Art Museum’s Backyard Oasis show; part of the Pacific Standard Time Series of exhibitions. Backyard Oasis is a show that focuses not just on people relaxing by the pool, but on the pool itself, an object so engrained in the culture of Los Angeles that it required its own show.

Renegade Art Gallery is located at 1345 N. Palm Canyon Drive (next to Denny’s)
in Palm Springs, CA 92262. Normal gallery hours are Fri-Sun 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. but
appointments can be made by calling Gallery Director Jenny Goldstein at 760-832-
2030. For more information, visit online at www.therenegadegallery.com
